Emily Chilufya Soweto Market Success Story

Emily Chilufya

Market Vendor

Emily has been selling food products in the Market since she was 30 years old and is very passionate about her business. The year 2020 was very challenging for her due to the impact of Covid-19, which had many negative effects on her business overall. Fortunately, Emily became a customer of LendingScape Limited in April 2021 and started to receive loans through our Village Banking program. She is very pleased with the loans as it has helped her business survive the major challenges of the ongoing Pandemic. She sells a number of food products like Popcorn, Soya Beans, Maize and Caterpillars depending on the season.

"LendingScape has really been good to me, and I don’t know where I would be without them. My business was about to collapse in 2020, so I am very happy I was able to get LendingScape’s affordable loans to survive. I really needed the support not just for myself, but also for my family. I think the company is good, it’s not just a regular company but a family business – they came through when no one was willing to lend us money at the peak of the pandemic."

Having 4 children, paying school fees was quite a challenge for Emily especially when business was slow. So now that she was able to receive external financial support, it made the burden significantly light. She is very happy to be part of LendingScape Limited and is hopeful to do business with us for a long time.
